My Grandpa Genaro / Mi Abuelo Genaro is a new graphic novel written and illustrated by Oscar Torres of Merced, CA. This is Oscar's first graphic novel and was made possible by the California Arts Council, the California Creative Corp, and the Heartland Creative Corp, who funded the development of this book.
The story features a fictional man named Juan who is telling the story of his grandfather Genaro and their migration to the United States from Mexico. Featuring themes of immigration and family, this book is told in both English and Spanish. As a flip book it has one side in English, then if you flip the book over the other side is in Spanish.
These books are free as they were funded by the Heartland Creative Arts Grant, so anyone that wants a copy can order one, we just charge for shipping and handling.
